Democratic Party

It’s not a partisan gap, it’s Democrats

When I look at our financial state of affairs in Olympia I don’t see a partisan gap issue as many in the news have said, I see a problem with the Democrats who have had too much control and for too long.   The real problem is not that there is a gap between the Republican Party and the Democratic Party, the real problem is that there is a large gap between the will of the people of Washington and the will of the party in power, the Democrats.

It’s no secret that many of our financial issues stem from government overspending and it takes only the average person to understand that to fix things we need to limit the taxes that are feeding our state’s spending addiction.

  • 1993 – Voters pass Initiative 601 which demands that “state expenditures be limited by inflation rates and population growth, and taxes exceeding the limit be subject to referendum?”
  • 1998 – Voters pass Referendum 49 which says that “motor vehicle excise taxes be reduced and state revenues reallocated; $1.9 billion in bonds for state and local highways approved; and spending limits modified?"
  • 2007 – Voters pass Initiative 960 which “required that in order for the Washington State Legislature to raise taxes, the legislature would have to approve any tax increases with a two-thirds supermajority vote or submit tax increase proposals to a statewide vote of the electorate”
  • 2010 – voters pass Initiative 1053  which requires that "legislative actions raising taxes must be approved by two-thirds legislative majorities or receive voter approval, and that new or increased fees require majority legislative approval."

For two decades the average people of our state have been speaking to this issue and the Democrats we put in power have been ignoring us.   It seems that each time we try to limit spending the Democrats try to limit our power over them by using whatever technicality they think they can get away with.

In the waning hours of the "budget focused" special session Democrats in the House and Senate both attempted to cue up votes on a tax bill not assumed in the budget that no one expected to pass. The strategy was to try to gain legal standing to sue the voters to overturn the 18 year old 2/3 vote requirement for tax increases.  Washington Policy Center

Approved by 64 percent of voters last November, I-1053 prohibited unelected bureaucrats from unilaterally imposing taxes and fees. After it passed, Gov. Chris Gregoire said: "I’m not gonna let 1053 stand in the way of me moving forward for what I think is right."  Seattle Times

A coalition of House Democrats and education advocates are asking the courts to void the supermajority required for tax increases in Washington, arguing that it’s an unconstitutional limit on legislative authority. The Spokesman-Review

I’m not a lawyer so I can’t speak to the technicalities of the various legislation, loopholes and lawsuits that the Democrats have used, but suffice to say that the Democrat legislation, loopholes and lawsuits were not implemented to properly enact the will of the people, but rather to oppose the will of those who elected them.

There’s a gap for sure, but it is not between political parties, it is between the average people of this state and the Democratic Party.

Thank You David Stalheim

So I anticipated that the hate Doug Ericksen portion of David Stalheim supporters would gravitate towards Jack Louws making this race interesting and possibly tough for Doug Ericksen to win.  I didn’t anticipate that David Stalheim would be endorsing his former opponent, but according to his FB page he apparently is doing so after a meeting with Jack Louws.
This endorsement clearly tips things in Doug Ericksen’s favor because what ever understanding or deal was made in the Stalheim/Louws meeting hacks right into the conservative portion of Jack Louws supporters by positioning him as Democratic Party middle/left candidate.

I certainly am appreciative of David Stalheim’s gesture, I wonder if Doug Ericksen sent him thank you note?

Socialism II – Destruction of the human spirit

russian bread line Rounding the corner and coming down the homestretch to the 2008 election are two candidates who have vastly different plans for the future of our so far free nation.

On one hand we have the McCain/Palin ticket who lean towards conserving our nations traditionally free way of government and on the other hand we have the Obama/Biden ticket, who with Democratic Party support, are planning big changes in our nation.  If we elect Barrack Obama we are electing to transform our nation to a socialist nation.  Time to ask yourself if that is really the kind of change you are looking for in our nation.

Today I’ve reposted two earlier posts that I feel are very timely to the decision we have facing us in a few weeks.  Baby Steps, one of my earlier post, briefly describes the path from capitalism to communism.  The second Destruction of the Human Spirit is a more recent post that connects Barrack Obama with this line of thinking.

Destruction of the human spirit – June 15, 2008

The Democratic Party’s socialist aims are not really secret; just highly under reported and rarely spoken of. I don’t think Barack Obama’s socialist aims are a secret to anyone either; just highly under reported, rarely spoken of, and not highlighted as such by his campaign.

But in Barack Obama’s back yard, the Chicago arm of the Democratic Socialists of America (CDSA) have known and supported Sen. Obama’s socialist tendencies for over a decade. Googling their sight yields numerous references and as early as 1996 they recognized him as a socialist.

Obama also has put in time at the grass roots, working for five years as a community organizer in Harlem and in Chicago. When Obama participated in a 1996 UofC YDS Townhall Meeting on Economic Insecurity, much of what he had to say was well within the mainstream of European social democracy.

Chicago Democratic Socialists of America

That was in 1996 that the CDSA recognized that much of what Barack Obama promoted was “well within the mainstream of European social democracy.”

A lot about Barack Obama’s upbringing can be found in a Chicago Tribune article from March ’07. I consider the article Barack Obama: Mother not just a girl from Kansas to be essential reading. Senator Obama describes his mother as “the dominant figure in my formative years. . . . The values she taught me continue to be my touchstone when it comes to how I go about the world of politics.” and the Chicago Tribune article describes her in more detail

“She touted herself as an atheist, and it was something she’d read about and could argue,” said Maxine Box, who was Dunham’s best friend in high school. “She was always challenging and arguing and comparing.

paint a vivid portrait of Barack Obama’s mother as a self-assured, iconoclastic young teen seemingly hell-bent to resist Eisenhower-era conformity.

“If you were concerned about something going wrong in the world, Stanley would know about it first,” said Chip Wall, who described her as “a fellow traveler. . . . We were liberals before we knew what liberals were.”

One classmate, Jill Burton-Dascher, said Stanley Ann (Barack Obama’s mother) “was intellectually way more mature than we were and a little bit ahead of her time, in an off-center way.”

Socialism is apparently in his blood. His mother was very much into liberal socialist/communist thought and Barack’s exposure to the socialist mindset continued through his childhood.

However, through Frank Marshall Davis, Obama had an admitted relationship with someone who was publicly identified as a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA). The record shows that Obama was in Hawaii from 1971-1979, where, at some point in time, he developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis, listening to his “poetry” and getting advice on his career path. But Obama, in his book, Dreams From My Father, refers to him repeatedly as just “Frank.”

Accuracy in Media

But where is the harm in Senator Obama’s socialist design for our nation? Well, there is the cost; several trillion dollars as reported by the CATO Institute, however the real harmful cost of socialism is the harmful cost to the human spirit. That cost may not be easy to describe in dollars, but it is easily comprehended by looking at the refugees from any socialist nation in history.

Coincidentally, in a 1978 address to Barack Obama’s Harvard alma mater, Alexander Solzhenitsyn, describes the peril of socialism first hand.

However, many people living in the West are dissatisfied with their own society. They despise it or accuse it of not being up to the level of maturity attained by mankind. A number of such critics turn to socialism, which is a false and dangerous current.

I hope that no one present will suspect me of offering my personal criticism of the Western system to present socialism as an alternative. Having experienced applied socialism in a country where the alternative has been realized, I certainly will not speak for it. The well-known Soviet mathematician Shafarevich, a member of the Soviet Academy of Science, has written a brilliant book under the title Socialism; it is a profound analysis showing that socialism of any type and shade leads to a total destruction of the human spirit and to a leveling of mankind into death.

Solzhenitsyn, Harvard Address, 1978

Plain and simple, Barack Obama’s socialist plan he refers to as change; is a proven plan for national misery.

Socialism I – Baby Steps

Rounding the corner and coming down the homestretch to the 2008 election are two candidates who have vastly different plans for the future of our so far free nation.

Baby Steps – November 16, 2006

Most are not aware of our nation’s baby steps toward communism. Aware or not they are happening. Most “peace” rallies protest etc. are fronts for socialist/communist organizations. Using the war as camouflage for their actions is serving them well. News won’t report what is going on. I have provided links to our local press and local government on several occasions, but there is no interest. I wondered why. Wondering why is what I do.

The why seems to be that we are in a Democrat county and the Democrats are the biggest promoters of socialism in our nation. They want us to be a socialist nation, they just don’t want to say that in public. Which party pushes for the most social programs? Which party pushes for “living wages” regardless of job performance? Which party pushes for government defined morality? Which party refuses to defend our nation? Which party hides socialism behind the word progressive? Which party has dozens of members in congress who are also part of a Congressional Progressive Caucus started by the Democratic Socialists of America? Do you want our nation to become a socialist or communist nation? Should we aspire to be like China, Venezuela, former Soviet Union, or France?

I’m not promoting a McCarthy witch hunt, I’m just saying that if you don’t want our nation to be like these nations then tell your friends to quit voting socialist Democrats into congress.

Capitalism

Capitalism is free market, open competition, profit motive and private ownership of the means of production. Capitalism encourages private investment and business, compared to a government-controlled economy. Investors in these private companies (i.e. shareholders) also own the firms and are known as capitalists.

Social democracy

Political ideology that advocates a peaceful, evolutionary transition of society from capitalism to socialism, using established political processes.

Socialism

Political-economic doctrine that, unlike capitalism which is based on competition, seeks a cooperative society in which the means of production and distribution are owned by the government or collectively by the people. Karl Marx saw socialism as a transition state between capitalism and communism.

Communism

A system of social organization in which goods are held in common. Communism in the United States is something of an anomaly. The basic principles of communism are, by design, at odds with the free enterprise foundation of the U.S. government. The freedom of individuals to privately own property, start a business, and own the means of production is a basic tenet of U.S. government, and communism opposes this ideal.

Fall of a great nation

There has recently been a lot chatter on the Herald Blog about whether conservatives or liberals are or are not fascists.  And while that pointless bit of name calling went on and on for days, Congressman Maxine Waters, a self avowed liberal Democrat from California, almost let the true liberal cat out of their SPCA approved pet carrier.

Oops, did she say socialize

With Democrat Senator Obama running strong, our nation could be just one election away from true implementation of socialism.  We’d be over the hump towards communism.  What a glorious day for Democrats, liberals and progressives everywhere.

Isn’t it about time that media cover the Democratic Party’s role in the rise of socialism in our nation?  After all, won’t future historians need material with which to study the fall of what once was a great nation?

And we eat our young

Did you read the article Republican’s Vote Against Mom, No Word on Puppies Kittens. It was in the Washington Post and referred to by a local Democrat blogger who used the column as a tool to question the morality, integrity and sanity of Republicans.

  • A majority of the House GOP has voted against motherhood.
  • When Republicans are against Motherhood, can voting against apple pie be far behind?
  • we need to question their collective sanity as well as their morality and integrity.
  • Is Rick Bart Against Motherhood, Too?
  • Republican’s Vote Against Mom, No Word on Puppies Kittens
  • 178 Republicans cast their votes against mothers.

After that little mosaic of quotes, it is a wonder that neither the Washington Post, nor our local Democrat blogger, has accused us of also eating our young. Seriously though, this accusation doesn’t hurt Republicans, it only makes Democratic Party followers look ridiculous for even making this suggestion.

And by the way, the Washington Post also carried a couple of articles, Democrats Link Wishes to War Funding and ‘Blue Dog’ Democrats Join GOP in Opposing War Bill, which explain the real reason that Republicans and also conservative Democrats were employing obstructive tactics against the majority Democrats last week.

Lastly, let me as, a registered Republican, make this perfectly clear on this Mother’s Day; I have nothing but love, respect and appreciation for mothers everywhere regardless of political and/or religious affiliations.

Although……… I’m not really keen on moms who dress their children in exploding vests. Silly looking home knit vests, yes; exploding vests, no.
