Christmas

Holiday Tree?

HT poll

Ok, I fell for this Facebook Poll.  I voted NO.  And I made this vote before knowing if President Obama actually made this utterance.   Sad thing for our nation is that true or not, many, including myself, believe it would have been in character for our president to disrespect our nation and his own proclaimed religion.  By the way, I was with over 92% of the quarter million poll takers who said NO to renaming the Christmas Tree.

And the facts are that I couldn’t find any facts that back up President Obama renaming the National Christmas Tree.  The only real fact I found was that the National Park Service is still planning a National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 3rd.  I assume that at a National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony there will be a National Christmas (not Holiday) Tree to be lit.

If anyone has any more information on this, leave a note.

Now I’m off to investigate a rumor about President Obama renaming that National Jewish Candle Thingy.

Merry Christmas,

captree

My first Christmas prayer for this holy day is to thank God for giving his Son to the world, so that we may choose everlasting life.  My second Christmas prayer is that we would all make this choice.  And lastly, I pray that everyone will have a merry little Christmas.

Wally, Mrs. Wally and our 2 little wallys will be there on Christmas Eve. We’d love to see you there for an hour of Christmas music and worship. I also hear there will be puppets and a few treats.

Evergreen Community Church is a nice little church with some really great people and families. More info and directions are on our website http://evergreencommunitychurch.com/.

And you who are busy with the busyness of today, remember this small lesson from the Whos, who knew the Way.

‘Pooh-pooh to the Whos!’ he was grinch-ish-ly humming.
‘They’re finding out now that no Christmas is coming.’
‘They’re just waking up, I know just what they’ll do. Their mouths will hang open a minute or two,
then the Whos down on Who-ville will all cry boo-hoo.’

But every Who down in Who-ville, the tall and the small, was singing! Without any presents at all.

He hadn’t stopped Christmas from coming! It came! Somehow or other, it came just the same.

Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before.
‘Maybe Christmas,’ he thought, ‘doesn’t come from a store.’
‘Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.

I pray that we would all remember that Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.

May God bless you and your family and may you have a very Merry Christmas!

The Way in a manger

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. And everyone went to his own town to register.

manger2.jpgSo Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise him, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he had been conceived.
(Luke 2:1-21 NIV)

Merry Christmas and may God bless you and your family!
