An oath and nickel will buy you a cup of coffee

On Sept. 21, 1996 President Bill Clinton signed into law the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) which was passed by Congress by a vote of 85–14 in the Senate and a vote of 342–67 in the House of Representatives.

On Jan 20, 2009 President Barack Obama was sworn into office reciting these words from our US Constitution “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

Just recently President Obama issued a  “statement advising the Department of Justice to discontinue asserting DOMA’s constitutionality in federal court. They called the move a flagrant disregard for his duty to defend federal law.”

In the near future, President Obama should tender his resignation because whether he agrees with laws or not, he is sworn to uphold them.  Even from his alma mater Harvard, whose writers obviously disagree with the law, came this message for President Obama “overall a sitting administration has a responsibility to defend a law currently on the books”

Scary as it may be, if President Obama cannot or will not carry out his oath of office it is time for him to step down and make way for President Biden.
