Syndicalism

What a word! Isn’t language great? There’s a word for everything.

syn•di•cal•ism n.
A radical political movement that advocates bringing industry and government under the control of federations of labor unions by the use of direct action, such as general strikes and sabotage.

Today’s Bellingham Herald had a photo of several protestors. They were waving a US flag, a Mexican flag, and… guess what… a United Farm Workers flag. It looks to me like the UFW is part of organizing walkout and boycotts to blackmail our government into granting citizenship for illegal aliens. They seem to know what syndicalism means. A lot of anti-syndicalism laws have been enacted in the past. Many may still be on the books. I’m bet that the UFW is aware of them.

It’s one thing to organize labor to better your wages and benefits. It’s quite another thing to organize labor to promote anti-government criminal behavior.

And I hope that a few professors out at the college understand where the line is drawn. I’d hate to see my tax dollars spent organizing anti-government rallies.

Syndicalism

What a word.
