Site upgrades

In the last month or so there have been a few upgrades here at Wally Wonders Why.  First, I installed an upgraded theme with a lot of features already built in; features that I previously needed to code and tweak code to accomplish what I was after.    I never really seem to have enough time in a day so any little bits of time help.  The theme I chose was called Options and as the name implies there are many options; most of which are available from simple menus.   My take on the Options theme is that it is great.  With a little WordPress and code experience, many things are possible with very little time.   Other than a header tweak, adding this code to style.css to get lists and block quotes to where I like them, was all I did.

/************************************************/
blockquote {
margin-top:5px;
background:url(images/quote.png) left top no-repeat;
padding:5px 5px 5px 45px;
}
blockquote blockquote {
background:none;
}
/***********************************************/
.post ul { margin:15px;padding-left: 15px; }
.post ul ul { margin-top:2px; }
.post ul li { list-style-type: disc; }
.post ul ul li { list-style-type: circle; }

.post ol { margin:15px;padding-left: 15px; }
.post ol ol { margin-top:2px; }
.post ol li { list-style-type: decimal; margin-bottom:10px;}
.post ol ol li { list-style-type: lower-roman; }

Another upgrade that is in process is the installation of WordPress 2.7.  Even though 2.7 is not officially released or maybe it is now, I was anxious to try out the threaded comment which are new to WordPress.  At this moment I’m up and running on WP2.7 RC1 beta and things are generally running great.  There is a RC2 out, but I think at this point I’ll just hangon for the actual release first release.   You can see the threaded or nested comments at work on my last post Unbalanced.  You can see that I can reply directly to a comment instead of just adding another comment to the end of the list.   By the way, it’s important to install the correct version of Options for WordPress 2.7.

Merry Christmas & Happy Blogging

    • Not hardly. In fact I try to be as lazy, I mean as efficient as possible. So lazy that my poor in-laws have to put up with a site that looks like mine 99plus1.org

      And I only put the code in there so that others might not have to duplicate it. I know I’m always glad when I find a problem and them find that someone else has already solved it and been kind enough to post the solution.
