You know how the saying goes, “With Friends Like this, Who Needs Enemies” and that also happens to be the name of a very enlightening post over a the Whacom Excavator. They talk about a very scary situation that is being created all over our nation. The situation is that our taxes are being used to fund Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs’) that are essentially unregulated civilian eco-police who roam the countryside filing real complaints on anyone they see fit to complain about.
You know we’ve got a long list of control obsessed friends here in Whatcom County, like ReSources “Baykeeper,” those city-livin’ “Farm Friends,” east county’s “Kendall Watch” with a busy-body blight squad, and our positively unhinged self-appointed planning police who are devoted to stopping as much rural land use as possible with boots firmly planted on County Council’s neck.

They call themselves Coal Free Bellingham, but such a benign name doesn’t accurately describe the motivations behind what they call their Bellingham Community Bill of Rights. Coal though, is the big topic of discussion in the Bellingham/Whatcom are and those promoting this Bellingham Community Bill of Rights are capitalizing on local anti-coal sentiment by using it as a vehicle to change the way our local, state and national governments work together. In fact, as you will see they are not just advocating a new working relationship, they are actually trying to opt out of our system of governance and attempting to establish their own new system of governance.
The opening statement on the Coal Free Bellingham website is the tip off to their true intentions. It fails to mention burning coal, transporting coal by train, the proposed coal port, or even any mention of coal at all.

If you don’t follow Political Cartoonist A.F.Branco’s work on Facebook then you are missing out on some great art and satire. His cartoons, like the one on the right from a few days ago, always seem to have the right balance between ironic bite and humor. But if you want a political cartoon to be funny it takes more than a talented cartoonist, the reader has to also know what the heck the picture is all about. That was the problem I had when I saw a solar powered 747 trying to crash land in algae. I didn’t really think it was that funny because I hadn’t heard anything about the President Obama/Newt Gingrich algae thing.
So I Googled “algae” so I could try and reclaim some funny and that’s where I got the scoop on the whole Newt trying to make his own funny out of what President Obama ...

	Let’s see,

Rush Limbaugh admittedly goes too far by insulting a young woman.
Nobody on the right defends his name calling and insults.
Everyone on the left, middle or right agrees his name calling and insults were wrong.
Rush agrees his name calling and insults were wrong and apologizes.

	End of story? No.

Many on the left call for him to be taken off the air.
Many on the left hurl insults of their own at Rush (bitch, prostitute, fat pig)

	End of story? No.

Wally thinks that all of them should listen to the issue and not the insults.

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. (Jas 1:19-20)

Rick Santorum was the favorite in our precinct today and from what I hear the favorite of Whatcom County. However, at this mornings caucus I put forward Mitt Romney as my favored candidate just as I had done in 2008. In 2008 our precinct went to Ron Paul, the State went to John McCain if I remember correctly and Mitt Romney went no where. So this time around I was very excited about the statewide results.

BELLEVUE, Wash., – Mitt Romney breezed to an easy victory in the Washington state Republican presidential caucuses on Saturday, US media projected, as he gained another momentum boost heading into next week’s crucial "Super Tuesday" contests in 10 states.
With about 58 percent of votes counted in the non-binding straw poll, Romney had 36 percent support, followed by US Representative Ron Paul at 25 percent, former US Senator Rick Santorum at 24 percent and former ...
